Count your days, map your risk, beat the house. Don't gamble with your visa.
The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) launched phased rollout in October 2025. It replaces passport stamps with biometric records (fingerprints + face scan) stored for 5 years and shared across all 29 Schengen countries.

Stay on the continent, just not in Schengen: Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, Georgia, Moldova, Bosnia, North Macedonia, the UK, and Ireland are all outside Schengen with generous visa-free allowances (often 90 days each).
Long-stay visas (Type D): Portugal D7/D8, Spain Digital Nomad, Germany Freelance, France Talent Passport, Italy Nomad, Greece Digital Nomad โ all bypass the 90/180 rule.
Residence permits: If you want to settle, apply for residency. Removes the 90/180 ceiling entirely in that country.
Extensions (where allowed): Thailand exemption extends +30 days. UAE tourist +30. UK rarely. Schengen almost never, except genuine emergencies with documentation.
